Who we are...
A division of C.S.I. representing more than 30 schools and nearly 8,000 students in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Ohio.
Representing these schools at the respective state and federal level since 1971.
Office located at 2261 Indiana Avenue, Lansing, Illinois 60438.
Statement of purpose...
To promote the cause of distinctive Christian education in the District 3 area.
To cooperate with C.S.I. in its educational and promotional activities and publication of textbooks.
To discuss the problems which are common to the schools in District 3.
To provide counsel to the schools in District 3 as they deal with problems.
To represent District 3 schools in government affairs by:
- promoting better understanding of Christian education by government officials.
- interpreting and reviewing legislation as it applies to non-public education (local, state and federal level).
- promoting legislation favorable to non-public education (local, state and federal level).
- promoting instructional materials and services available through governmental and civic organizations.
To provide services to member schools which will improve the administration, teaching, board activities and facilities of member schools.
District 3 in action...
Elects District 3 representatives to the C.S.I. Board of Directors.
Formulates any problems and overtures as should be referred to the Board of Directors of Christian Schools International.
Supervises joint services developed by District 3.
Available upon request to school boards for counsel and information.
Promotes state-wide non-public school coalitions in each state and encourages member schools of respective states to become actively involved in the coalition.
Serves as State and Federal ombudsman:
- remains informed on State and Federal Legislation, regulations or policies which impact District 3 schools making recommendations for appropriate action.
- coordinates school response to legislative requirements.
Provides timely information about and assists schools in accessing services from relevant State and Federal Education programs, e.g. - federal entitlement programs.
- notifies schools as to exact dollars available under these various State and Federal entitlement programs, procedures and deadlines for filing, etc.
- informs schools regarding availability of and access to State programs or funds for e.g.:
Provides counsel in beginning Christian schools, operating and evaluating programs.
Encourages non-member Christian schools to become members of C.S.I. and District 3.
District 3 membership...
- Membership in District 3 is open to Christian schools who share a perspective on Christian education that flows from the Reformation.
